“It looks like you had CoursePress 1 installed. In order to upgrade your course data to CoursePress 2”

I have never installed coursepress, so what is this, and how do I get this thing to launch ?

    Hey @magicmiles,

    Hope you’re well.

I tried to install CoursePress to fresh install WordPress site, but couldn’t see message like that. Can you send me a screenshot? And is there any specific step that you did to see that message?

    Cheers,
    Oguz

This is not on a stock install. I installed this on my staging server. It installed fine on my development server, but when I went to install it on the staging server which is a mirror of my production environment, that’s when I saw the message above.

It’s obviously looking for a table or record, so my let’s go on the theory that it’s right that I have installed it, it’s possible that I don’t remember it. I was trying out courseware packages a few years ago and may have installed it and then deleted it, but to be honest with you I don’t remember doing it, and don’t remember ever seeing the package before. But let’s go on the theory that the installer is correct for the moment: Where would I look in the schema to remove the installed data ? I don’t care about preserving anything.

Let’s just remove what’s there, where would I look and what would I need to delete ?

    Miles.

Ok, I figured it out. Sorry for the alarm.

This may be helpful to anyone else that runs into this problem.

Apparently, YOUR software and LearnPress uses the same nomenclature for the post_type field in the wp_posts table by using the word > “course” to describe courses. Either you or them needs to change this, otherwise, nasty things are going to happen.

I knew I hadn’t installed this software before because if I had, I would have used this instead of LearnDash which has caused more problems than I can shake a stick at.

    Sorry for the alarm.

    Hey @magicmiles,

    Hope you’re well.

Thanks for the detailed explanation of the problem. I am just trying to replicate it for the report to developers. I installed LearnPress in fresh WordPress install, created course then deleted the plugin. After that, I installed CoursePress but still couldn’t see the message like your screenshot.

If you remember anything that can help me to replicate it I would be happy to learn that. Thanks for your help!

    Cheers,
