• I need functionality which on the surface seems like it should be easy to do, yet everything I find has short-comings or unnecessary complications.

I run a coaching company, with a variety of courses and trips. Each course has a page which describes the course, a few photos etc. Plus of course dates that the course is running, cost and the ability to book through a paypal button. Courses are generally one or two days long, but there may be multiple versions of the course available. Like first aid courses, a first aid provider would have several dates of the course to chose from.

I would also have a course calendar so users can view what courses I have running on any particular dates.

I want to combine the two things so that:
    1. Adding a date to a course automatically adds it to the calendar (or the other way would be if there was some way to categorise events added to the calendar so that the course info page could list only future dates of a specific category in the drop-down menu for paypal booking)
    2. When viewing the calendar, clicking on the event takes you to the relevant course info page where you can see all the info & book
    3. An upcoming courses widget – again clicking on the “event” takes you to the relevant course info page.
    4. Ideally the calendar would be able to update to my own google calendar, or at least I should be able to import it.

Now this seems like simple requirements, but without writing from scratch, is there any plugins that can provide this functionality? I’ve looked at loads of “event calendars” but nothing has yet ticked all the boxes.

    Help / advice gratefully received!

    Cheers

    Hi Guys,

I’ve been trying more and more plug-ins but really am just going round in circles. Has anyone got any suggestions for me?

    Thanks

Hmm, but fundamentally that is coming at it from a different perspective. I don’t need resource management, or blackout periods etc. Each course only occurs on set dates, which I want to be able to display both on the course page and within a calendar. It therefore makes sense that I can add dates to the course and this info is used by the calendar.

https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/events-plus/ – this almost does it, however it’s a bit cumbersome. To “sign up” through their system it requires a wordpress account and the payment process is ugly. So far it seems this will be my solution though it will require a fair bit of hacking just to clean it up enough!

There’s a definite gap in the market here IMO.
