    Hi,

I’ve recently installed the plugin to replace the standard paypal plugin and come across this odd quirk.

When I use a £50 coupon on a product that costs £100 + VAT (£120), it shows correctly in the cart at £50 + VAT (£60), but when it gets sent across to paypal it then shows the following breakdown:

    Total: 100
    Tax: 20
    discount: 60
    Total: 60

While this total is right, it may get confusing when dealing with taxes.

Could someone confirm if this is correct or not.

Thanks for your help and advice.

    Best regards,
    Ian

    Hello @guy1ncognito

this seems to be correct indeed, but yes, I understand that it might be confusing. However, this is shown in the PayPal popup, which is managed by PayPal itself and is out of our (the plugin’s) control.

Just to be sure, you would prefer to see the dropdown in the PP page show this:
    Total: 50
    Tax: 10
    Discount: 60
    Total: 60

To be honest, I think that would probably be even more confusing. Can you let me know if that is correct, or did you have a different option in mind?
I am asking this so we can at least put it in front of PayPal for their consideration.

    Let me know.
    Kind regards,
    Joost

    Hi @joostvandevijver,

    Thanks for your quick reply.

I thought that might be the case.

I think what my client is expecting to see in PayPal is the discount before taxes so it would be like this:

    Total: 100
    Discount: 50
    Taxes: 10
    Total: 60

Another option would be to have an option within the plugin that just sends across the final figures and just show the discounts on the wordpress checkout/order side.

    Thanks again,
    Ian

    Hello @guy1ncognito

I am sure this was a deliberate decision by PayPal and our developers, so I don’t think it will have much value to start a discussion with them to see if we can adjust this. Especially since (for me) it all seems to make sense.

    I hope you understand.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
