Coupon Usage Restrictions Stopped Working

    I have had coupons set up for a long time without issues working perfectly.

    Recently however, the restrictions have stopped applying.

    I have a coupon set up for example with the box ticked for “Tick this box if the coupon should not apply to items on sale. Per-item coupons will only work if the item is not on sale. Per-basket coupons will only work if there are items in the basket that are not on sale.” but it is suddenly being applied to products that are on sale.

    In added the category of the product in question to which it occurred as a temporary work around, but the coupon still discounted it despite there now theoretically being two restrictions that should prevent it’s use.

    Please advise, as I’m now making a loss on these sales when double discount is applied.

    This kind of problem is usually caused by either a conflict with your theme or with another plugin.

    First of all, make sure that all of your plugins are up-to-date, especially WooCommerce. Then you can test for conflicts as described below.

    The best way to detect a conflict is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

    If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict.
