Coupon not applied on standard pages when cart is empty

  • It appears that the coupon code is not added to a session via standard page unless there is an item to the cart. This issue is not the case when directing traffic to Woocommerce products etc.

    Steps to reproduce PAGE:

    1. Open new incognito session
    2. Visit link to PAGE
    3. Add product to cart
    4. View cart
    5. No coupon appears
    6. Visit link again
    7. View cart
    8. Coupon appears

    Versus SHOP:

    1. Open new incognito session
    2. Visit link to SHOP
    3. Add product to cart
    4. View cart
    5. Coupon appears

    Ideally, the coupon will be applied no matter where I send traffic as I would like to create custom landing pages to welcome visitors.
