• Hi, Ricard

Congratulations on the plugin. It’s the closest to what I am looking for.

I can’t believe you are not selling it instead of giving it for free.

I have two requests. I have read most of the forum topics and I’ve seen a number of people requested your help even paying but you rejected it, but let’s try.

I’ve also seen you don’t want to do the IP-vote limite feature. Don’t we have even a little chance? Do you think it would be difficult for someone else to do? Do you know of someone who has done it? I think many of us would appreciate this feature, even paying for it.

My second request is… what about having more than two buttons? I mean, three, or even four or five. For instance, something like “I completely agree”, “I agree partially” and “I completely disagree”. Same questions. Would you do it either as a new feature or a exclusive paid for feature? If not, do you think it’ll be difficult for someone else?

    Thanks and congratulations again.

    Javier

    Hello,

    1) No Javier, I’m not implementing IP validation for this plugin. It would require at least to set up a code to create a new additional database table. Right now the plugin uses your current posts tables and fields. I built it to be very lightweight. I hate, I hate plugins that create custom tables and then if it’s not properly coded they’ll be there forever. Theoretically the plugin should delete the data once you uninstall it.

1.1) I don’t know if anyone has built IP validation with this plugin.

1.2) I’ve been away from WordPress development, I don’t need the money and don’t have the time to do it either. Plus, let me say it again: people love this plugin because it has minimal impact on their site and performance!

    2) For this feature you might also need to create a custom database table. That or find a way to store it in the current fields (like it is done now).

2.1) “Difficult” is a relative term, how good is this person with WordPress?

You’re welcome. Enjoy the plugin and fork with your customizations if you want.

(Hint: that was also one of my goals, to build something as a starting point for people to modify with their custom features).

I know it is not an ideal answer if you’re not a developer but I’ll repeat what I’ve said in other threads. There are already plugins out there that do this for you. Why would you want Thumbs Rating to become like the others?

    Regards

You are an honorable man, Ricard Torres.
