    Hi,

I’ve had customers getting confused when entering their billing details

See below a link to a screenshot of the paypal payment details form:

Say someone from Germany is trying to pay, by default the form has selected UK, therefore when they enter a german phone number and postcode the form shows an error. They aren’t realising that they need to click the flag icon to change their country. Is there anyway the form can show the flag icon more prominently, or display a field title next to it saying something like ‘Select your country’?

In an even more ideal world, it would automatically detect their location and show the correct country flag straight away.

    Hope you can help

    Hi @macpheek,

Thank you for reaching out to us on WordPress!

The default country flag is shown by PayPal depending on the various settings you have configured on your site. If you have enabled the Use system locale option, PayPal will display the country flag icon depending on the site language. And if the Use system locale option is disabled, the country is defaulted by PayPal. The default is determined using information about the current merchant, user, and other information for the session.

We understand your requirement, to change the country and the flag icon depending on the address or the mobile number a user provides on the form. However, the form is provided by PayPal itself and we just render them on the checkout page. We are sorry to let you know that we cannot provide you with any solution to overcome this issue. Thanks for understanding.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I can see System Locale is already turned on in the plugin settings. In the woocommerce general settings I’ve changed ‘Default customer location’ to ‘Geolocate’, but I think it’s still not automatically detecting the country in Paypal, it’s only showing UK by default, see below screenshot

Is there anything else you can advise?

The checkout fields are all hidden apart from name and email. I just tried re-enabling country select to see if this is effecting things, but this doesn’t seem to make a difference

    Hope you can help
