    Hello,
I started using this plugin some years ago and I used to display the country of a gig with the two-character code. Now I’ve changed the settings to display the full name but for some venues the country name is disappeared; if I then manually reinsert the country, it happens that for some venues the country isn’t saved (after I update the gig’s venue reinserting the country it says that the venue has been updated, and I can see the country in the venues’ list, but when I login to WordPress some hours later, some venues have disappeared again).

If then I switch back to display the country with the two-character code, all the countries are back, no one is missing.

I’m using WordPress version 4.8 and GigPress version 2.3.18.
I’ve already tried changing theme and deactivating all other active plugins, but nothing changed.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi @asile,

Can you give some examples which countries you are having trouble with? Both for now showing and not saving?

    Thanks,
    Andras

    Hello Andras,
I don’t think it’s a problem regarding the countries, as for some venues the country is showing perfectly, but some other venues in the same country it’s not showing at all.

Please let me know how can I help you to figure out where’s the problem.

This is curious. I did a test with couple venues and different countries. So far I haven’t been able to reproduce the issue.

What countries were you having trouble with?
Can you also maybe share URL where this is happening?

    Hello Andras,
I’ve troubles with all countries added so far; but I repeat, not all venues in a country have this problems, some have, some not.

I can give you the log-in informations so you can see the problem by yourself, just give me an email where I can send them.

    Hello @asile,

I’m really sorry for the long wait for a response.

I appreciate the offer, however, our current policy is not to accept logins or to log in to customer servers/WordPress installations.

We have released an update not so long ago. Is the issue still happening with it?

There are 2 paths we can take as next:

    1. Set up a brand new test site and check if you can reproduce the issue there. First install WP and GigPress, then add your theme, then the other plugins and check when things start to break. If nothing breaks by the end, then it might be something with your current setup. In this case you need a new install and transfer the data to the new site.

    2. Create a test site via creating a copy of your current site and check if the issue still happens. If yes, then go through our Conflict Testing Guide and see if that uncovers anything.

Let me know how far you get. I promise I will keep a closer look on this thread and will give you a much more timely reply next time.

    Cheers,
    Andras

    Hello Andras,
I’ve already tried time ago to disable all olther plugins & custom theme, and set up a brand new test site but nothing is changed (I also set 2 test sites to be sure it wasn’t a problem of the hosting).
I’ve updated both WordPress and your plugin to the latest versions now and the problem is still there.

But please notice that when I created the brand new test site I imported the gigs’ database because they’re a lot and re-add them one by one would took a lot of time.
I checked the .csv file and the code of the countries appears on every gig, but then the country full name is still disappearing on some gigs.

    Hi @asile,

Could you share a full database dump with me somehow? I would like to take a look if possible. Or the export of your gigs, however you imported them.

    Hi @aguseo,
I’ve just send you the database dump. Thanks in advance.

    Hi @asile,

I managed to check the export you shared with me. What I discovered is that some country codes in the csv file are all caps, like “UK”, and those work fine. While there are some which use mixed case, like “Uk” or “Ru”, and those are the ones where the countries are not showing up.

Changing those manually in WordPress would probably take a long time, so you might consider:

    • export all gigs, artists, tours, venues
    • purge your database, or at least the gigpress tables (wp_gigpress_artists, wp_gigpress_shows, wp_gigpress_tours, wp_gigpress_venues)
    • capitalize the country codes in the csv file (you should be able to do that easily with a spreadsheet software like Excel or Google Spreadsheets, but even with Notepad, with a search-and-replace)
    • re-import the csv file

Please let me know if this helps solve the issue.

    Cheers,
    Andras
