    Dear Michael,

I’m sorry to have to bother you with a post here, but I see you do a phenomenal job of answering people so thanks in advance.

I’m attempting to use your plugin to organize a potluck for my wedding.

I have a form that captures peoples’ RSVP information and asks them if they’re planning on bringing food, and makes them select from one of a number of categories. I would like for each category to display the number of required dishes remaining, based on what other people have already signed up to bring.

For example, we decide we need 5 salads, so I use the count & filter to query the database and display (3/5 remaining).

I’m currently having problems trying to figure out the search query, but I will keep reading.

What I’m really concerned about is when I paste a short code into Contact Form 7, it’s not recognized. Therefore I’m not sure how I could display the information I want to inside of the form so people can see it while they are filling it out.

    Thanks a lot,
    Ross

    Try [cfdb-count]

Putting a shortcode in the CF7 form definition does not work. It will not be processed. You would have to check CF7 forums to see if there is a way to make CF7 process regular shortcodes in its form definition. Otherwise you would have to post the CFDB shortcode in the post before or after the CF7 shortcode.

I was a bit confused about the shortcodes, but once I found the shortcode generator inside the Contact Form DB plugin I was able to have them display the information that I wanted.

I was able to get the shortcodes working inside the form with the “Contact Form 7 Shortcode Enabler” plugin. Works great.

If you’re curious about the form you can see how the shortcodes display specific counts and tables for each category of food (say ‘yes’ to bringing food on our form) https://www.thepicnicwedding.com

    Thanks Michael!
