• I’ve always used Counterize as a plug-in for my website: https://www.puntabulous.com. Recently, I’ve been having problems with my dashboard. Pages never seem to upload all the way, and I sometimes have to use backdoors to get access to anything at all.

I recently deactivated Counterize and it suddenly made everything work perfectly. But then my website wouldn’t load when I went to it. If I activate it again, my websiote appears, but dashboard begins sucking again.

I have the most recent update of WordPress and Counterize. I don’t need counterize and would gladly get rid of it, but it makes my site disappear when it’s deactivated.

Can someone help me out? Thanks

  • Well, I just went to the site and it worked perfectly for me – however it’s impossible for me to know if you’ve got the plugin on or off…

Probably best to let us know that before you head out, so we can know what we’re looking for?

Well the plugin is currently activated so the site is working, but my dashboard is not. When I want to edit my site, I have to deactivate the plugin (making the site go down), make my changes, then reactivate the plugin.

I shouldn’t have to do that.

You’re right, you shouldn’t. No need to get defensive or anything – no one here is “making” you have to do anything – it’s just the plugin that’s borked for some reason.

I’m not even sure what exactly the job of that plugin is, I’ve never used it, but I’m willing to bet that if your site borks up when it’s deactivated, then you’ll have to go into the theme and remove the calls for it on your theme pages.

That said, if that’s the case, do that, then delete the plugin completely (don’t just deactivate).

Sometimes plugins don’t cooperate well with one another – have you installed any new ones recently?

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to come across as being defensive. I’ve tried deleting the plug in entirely, but it just makes my website disappear. When I have more time I’ll go through all the code and see if I can remove all the calls for it.

I wish I could be of better help, like suggesting exactly what calls in the code need to be removed, but like I said, I just don’t even know what that plugin does, much less when and where it’s in the code… sorry.

What you can try and do is go o:
    https://firefang.net/blog/337

and either download his plugin (which is like an upgrade t counterize)
Or jus mail him (or leave a comment on that post) – and maybe he could help you (he is a nice man, and have gone through the counterize plugin arciecture)

    ??
    Tal.

Okay Craig – I’ve emailed you as well.

Lady was right – I deactivated your plugin for you, and removed the call for it in your header file.

All is now well – you can now log in and your site is up. ??
