Hi. Someone told me yesterday that they visited a page on my blog. This was not shown to me in my analytics. I asked and the visitor said he clicked away the cookies completely. That means if someone clicks away my cookie notice, this visit and the page view is not counted at all? Or is this related to the question in the settings “Use a cookie to determine unique visitors and page views?”? There I have entered No, because I do not want to set cookies. I know with that Koko cannot reliably detect returning visitors. But what does recurring mean? Is there a specific time?

The number of total visitors counted is the number on top yes.

I can’t comment on how your cookie acceptance plugin works. You have to ask the developer of that plugin. As far as Koko itself is concerned, it still works normally without the cookie, you can read about it here: https://www.kokoanalytics.com/visitors-versus-pageviews/ under the heading “Determining returning visitors without a cookie”

ok. But it is correct that I am already counted as a visitor if I have not yet decided whether to accept or reject cookies? And if I reject and continue clicking, the visitor call is not counted, but after a few minutes then still the page view is counted, although I have rejected the cookies?

As long as your cookie plugin isn’t blocking the Koko script from executing normally, it will count the visitor.

    Hello Lap,

i was wondering about your comment a time ago: “Koko will count the visit with or without cookie, the only difference is it may not see it as a “page view” and instead count it as a “visitor”

I thought, that Koko is not allowed to count if the cookies are rejected? That’s why the analyses are never 100% accurate?

Koko will work without the cookie.

What I have said is that it is possible that some cookie banner plugins may (or may not) block scripts such as Koko from running entirely. This is out of our control and to know if this is happening or now you need to contact the support of the cookie banner plugin.

“Koko will work without the cookie.”

But does this have anything to do with the setting whether I want to use a cookie to determine unique visitors and page views? Because there I have selected “No”
