Count keyword frequency throughout blog

  • I’m currently working on creating a plugin for a friend’s blog. I need it to search through all her blog posts for specific keywords and count how many times they occur (altogether, not individually).

    How would I search each and every blog post for a list of specified keywords?

    So, for example… if her keywords are “kitchen”, “chair”, and “shoes”, I need a running count of how many times those words appeared throughout the blog. I don’t need:

    kitchen (4)
    shoes (3)
    chair (6)

    I do need:

    keywords (13)

    Any ideas?
