I’ve been running smush for the last week a few times.

I intermittently get the following error message: Couldn’t process image due to bad headers. Try re-saving the image in an image editor, then upload it again.

Some of the images this issue affects are always the same but others vary. So I’m wondering why this is happening.

Similarly, if I bulk smush all images and I’m left with say 12 images that are affected by the above error message, then rerun bulk Smush the next day I’m told that over 300 images need resmushing. Why is this, if I haven’t added new images during this time?

    Thanks

Just installed the plugin and I am getting the same message
“Couldn’t process image due to bad headers. Try re-saving the image in an image editor, then upload it again.”

I was also getting the error “No file content sent.” intermittently

Same problem here at smush pro version 3.6.3.

Smush: Couldn’t process image due to bad headers. Try re-saving the image in an image editor, then upload it again.

I start the process smush many times, and than, wondering it works.
    is that a bug?

    Hello @janesaunders04, @crackorsquad, @laserjobs, @michael81170,

Smush can only compress images with metadata, so if an image does not have that it will not be able to do that & hence show the above error. This is not a bu but the expected behaviour as those images would not have metadata in them.

So re-uploading that image by resaving it through an image editor should resolve this. Can you check this on your end and let me know if that works for you.

    Hello,

all my images have exif/iptc metadatas, because it is a photography website.

I try to smush the picture with the button “smush it”, and after “7,8.. errors” than smush it works on the picture! Perhaps it is a cloudflare-conflict?

    Hello @michael81170

    I trust you’re doing well!

An image could be too large in size and the was not enough time to process it. Please try adding this line to the wp-config.php file:
    define('WP_SMUSH_API_TIMEOUT', 150);
