    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us, we are here to help.
This error has been showing up for the last 3 releases, but every time we fix one cause, it shows up as another for the next release. Currently, we are trying to figure out what is causing it this time, but we have not had many leads so far.

We have a package available that should provide more clear error logs on this matter and we would like to ask you to also use this version if you often see this issue on your site. You can download the package here. (the package is only adjusted for logs entries, other than that it is the same as the 1.9.4 release).

I have linked this thread to the bug, so it will get updated once we have a workaround or have released a fix for it.

Please let us know if you have anymore indicators of where this issue could be caused (logs, order notes, common factors in failing orders, etc)

    Kind regards,
    Joost

Had the same issue. It got resolved when I disabled my other credit card processing provider plugin (Moneris, version 3.1.1). PayPal (version 1.9.4) worked normally again.

    Hello @youngw416

Thank you for this information, this I have shared this with our team, and we will be looking into this being another cause for the error we might be able to resolve. Don’t hesitate to share any other details you think might be useful.

    Thanks again!

    Kind regards,
    Joost

    Hello,

the error “could not retrieve order” is most of the time caused by the WooCommerce “order now” button not being able to be replaced by our plugin. When the customer uses the standard (WC) button to pay with PayPal, the order will fail with this error.
There are many causes for this, and we believe that we resolved many of them with the 2.0.0 release. However, there are still some cases left that we are still working on and some browsers that are too old, simple do not function accurately enough to perform this action (we are not sure if we can cover all old browsers).

Having said that, we are working on improving this situation constantly and believe this is already much improved. I will mark this thread as resolved, but you can still open a new thread if you believe you have encountered a serious issue with this error.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
