    Hello,

When i’m in the backend of WordPress i get an error when clicking on PLugins.
It says: Could not retrieve data

Other parts of my backend do work and my site is working too.

    Anyone know what to do?

    Many thanks!

  • Hi,

Have you tried disabling plugins to see if any of them are causing the problem? I’d also look at the server logs for any hints.

    Cheers

Well i can’t disable plugins, because the plugin page can’t load of error.

If you suspect a certain plugin is causing this (maybe recently installed) remove it and then see if you can access

I’ve the same problem since few days…no changes! I also get numbers after I puplished articles, for example “0” or 4.9″.

@fr3nkie: Try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin. That should deactivate all plugins and – hopefully – allow you back into the Plugins page.

If that fails to work, you could have a damaged core file. Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the root wp-config.php & .htaccess files and the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folders before uploading the new ones.

Finally, running a repair on all table of your database wouldn’t go amiss. Your hosts should be able to point you towards a database management tool like Phpmyadmin that will allow you to do this.

@nicolasnoack: Could you please post your own topic. Your issue – although superficially similar – could have a very different root cause.

    Same problem here

debug found an issue in a plugin i deactivated
now debug is clean but error “Could not retrieve data.” persists

there is a more clean way than replacing all files / dactivating all plugins?

Are you using ‘UserPro’? I had the same issue with this plugin…

    (@aldabogskie)

Same here, Im also using UserPro and suddenly “Could not retrieve data” white page appeared on wp-admin/update-core.php and plugin page! My website works fine like last month without touching plugins/themes/corefiles, Just this error suddenly appeared! weird.

UserPro also here… I’m opening a ticket to their support

    SOLVED

the plugin generating this error was in the end UserPro
    They released an upgrade yesterday

Manually installing the upgrade via FTP will solve the issue

I might suggest to WP Developers to catch this exception as is a security threat ??

    Michele

Thanks everyone for your help in identifying this plugin! It’s been driving me crazy! I also disabled user pro via my FTP (FileZilla) and I can now access my site agin.

It was part of a theme I installed, and therefor pre-paid. Would be great to know their response @aldabogskie on updating this!

@michelegb might I ask where you downloaded the upgrade from?

@remyalexander88 I purchased it from themeforest, i got an email with the upgrade notification

This is BS! I have been using UserPro for years and every single update they release they always have issues. I have expressed to them many many times to make sure they test their updates thoroughly BEFORE releasing and they NEVER do. I have emailed support twice and no response. Does not matter if you download from Envato and FTP the update of update through Dashboard.

The plugin needs to be fixed NOW!

If you ftp and disable all plugins then wait and clear cache then enable all plugins (including UserPro) it will most of time come back and work but it’s only a temporary fix.

They know it’s an issue and should not be a theme related problem as I am using Divi and as I said you can get the site to work by trying what I mentioned above.

Very unhappy and looking at UsersUltra or something else instead of UserPro.
