What is your email provider? If you use Amazon SES like I do, I just recently had this problem. I was getting 535 invalid credentials. I had to delete my smtp user from my IAM and create a new one to resolve the issue.

I will create a separate password for the third party, and then update it

Yeah it was driving me nuts because I deleted the key/secret (smtp username/password) and recreated them three times before I finally figured it out. I think AWS updated something that affected the IAM user accounts/permissions. Good luck!

    Hi @a3360765,

Thanks for reaching out! Are you able to send a test email (WP Mail SMTP -> Tools) from your WordPress site?

If so, the issue should be related to the “Better Notifications for WP” plugin.

To troubleshoot the issue, first try forcing the “from email address” under the WP Mail SMTP -> Settings page (make sure to send emails from your WP Mail SMTP authenticated email address).

Further, you can also check WP Mail SMTP -> Tools -> Debug Events section to find out more information about this error.

    I hope this helps. Thanks!
