• I have a regular wordpress site. I use it to provide information about my tutoring business to my customers. Right now, I basically use the site to update information, tutoring schedule, etc.

I want to do the following and I am not sure whether I can do this on my site or whether I need a multiuser version. Any advice or help would be appreciated.

I want to have a “private bulletin” function for each current student. I would want to be able to upload comments and/or files for each student. Each student’s bulletin would be accessible only by that student (or his parents). That student should be able to post to his bulletin board so that I could see any sort of comments or special requests by the parents. Basically, I would like some sort of private area to communicate with individual student.

From what I have read, it seems as if I need a multiuser site. Can I do this without migrating my site to a multiuser wordpress? If I do need to migrate, where can I hire someone who can migrate my site and set up the function that I described above? I think this is above my WP skills. Any help would be great.

MU is actually MultiSITE these days, and is used to have multiple blogs on your network.

You don’t need it unless you want each user to have their own separate blog.

Dear Ipstenu – Thanks for your help. I do not need each user to have their own separate blog. However, I do need them to be able to access posts and attachments that are specifically for them (so that others cannot see them). I searched plug-ins but could not find anything like this… I’m guessing that I would need to find someone who can write such program. Is there some place where I can post ads to find someone who can work on something like this for a reasonable fee?

The best I could think to do would be to make Custom Post Types for each person and use something like the Members plugin to lock them down.

If you want to hire people, post on jobs.wordpress.net ??
