Could anyone advise me on getting this working?

Hi there

I don’t know whether this is something you could help me with or not. I’m really struggling with this and perhaps there is something you can tell me to do which is much simpler?

I’m basically trying to get the rencontre plugin to work on my site as a part of the site, but not to take over the site.

The guy is trying to help me, and he’s being very patient, but I keep going round in circles. I don’t know whether I’m missing the point with some sort of french to english translation problem, or whether I’m just being really stupid! It’s most likely me, but basically he wants me to create a new template (I think) to use on the page which will display this dating section. I’ve tried to do as he’s asked, but I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong. It would seem I’m doing something wrong as I tried adding hello world in plain text to the template in my child theme, but nothing showed. I also can’t get the theme to be an option in the page itself. I hope this makes some sort of sense!
