    Hello!

I’ve looked at the options for the subscription module, and have a few suggestions/questions:
    1. Would it be possible for admins of a selfhosted blog to add/remove subscribers from the controlpanel+
    2. Will it be possible to extend the widget so subscribers can choose specific categories, pages etc. to get notifications when there are updates?
    3. If a user subscribes to comments can they then just reply to a comment via the mail they receives?
    4. Could you add a feature so the admin could send an email to subscribers from the controlpanel of WordPress?
    5. If I produce a post in Markdown, is this then translated to HTML when it arrives at a subscriber’s inbox or do they see the Markdowwn instead?

    Best regards
    Thomas

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

    1. Would it be possible for admins of a selfhosted blog to add/remove subscribers from the controlpanel+

That’s not possible. Subscribers need to confirm their subscription by clicking on a link in a confirmation email they receive after signing up on your site, and they are also the only ones who can unsubscribe.

We plan on adding an import option at some point, but I’m afraid I don’t have an ETA yet. You can follow our progress here:

    2. Will it be possible to extend the widget so subscribers can choose specific categories, pages etc. to get notifications when there are updates?

That’s not possible at the moment, but it’s been suggested in the past. More subscription management options is definitely something we’re considering.

    3. If a user subscribes to comments can they then just reply to a comment via the mail they receives?

That’s not possible either, but that’s on our radar.

    4. Could you add a feature so the admin could send an email to subscribers from the controlpanel of WordPress?

I don’t think we’ll ever implement such a feature. If you’re looking for such newsletter-like features, it might be best to try newsletter services like Mailchimp or Mail Poet.

    5. If I produce a post in Markdown, is this then translated to HTML when it arrives at a subscriber’s inbox or do they see the Markdowwn instead?

They’ll see HTML. Only the post author will know that the post was written in Markdown.
