    Hello,

I’ve just updated your amazing plugin. unfortunately there is some weird error that forces me to disable the plugin for the moment. As soon as it is activated it no longer shows the correct posts on the slideshow on our homepage. The query is looking for posts that have the keyword (not category) “top-news”. I have no idea why your plugin has an influence on the slide-show (that was built with elementor loop grid). As soon as I activate your plugin, the most recent post is missing, but it shows the start page (which has no keyword) in the slideshow.

I would be glad if you could help me with this weird problem.

    Thanks

    Markus

@defender75 – Happy to help. In v1 we only did basic filtering of post content and such, in v2 we aimed to fill the gaps and now handle restricting content at the query level as well as a few other ways.

That said there are many queries we can safely not filter, and we actually have a built in mechanism for that to happen, we just need to identify those queries.

Can you confirm what the setup of your global restrictions are, such as what protection method & content matching rules each use.

Further can you confirm none of the content missing in the slideshow should match those rules?

    Hi Daniel,

I have two restrictions on the website. Both are for pages (and children of the selected pages).

The weird thing is: even when i disable the restrictions the problem is still there. the only way to get rid of the problem is to deactivate your plugin.

And also a bit strange is the fact that when I am editing the slide-show (with Elementor) the slide show looks fine with the correct posts showing up.

the posts inside the slide-show don’t have any rules that have influence on my restrictions. only pages are restricted – no posts (also no categories and no keywords – if these functions exist at all?)

Same for me, but with all LearnDash courses lists, both as shortcodes and Elementor widgets – the list renders, but all the data is missing – post titles, featured images etc are not there. The links on each course in the list work though … weirdly. Also as @defender75 – disabling all the rules does not have any effect. Disabling Content Control does though, so it is definitely CC that breaks them.

@joroabv Ok so by your description it’s not the restrictions causing the issue, but a side effect of just being installed essentially?

Can you tell me if your using other features like

    • [content_control] shortcode
    • widget controls
    • block controls [new]

Can either of you share temporary access to your site or take a few minutes to try and recreate the issue on one of your demo sites?

    • Grant support access and you can submit it securely via the support page there.
    • Create a demo site – the plug-in may need updated there to the latest version first, but you can install any other plugins you need to duplicate it and we can debug it that way.

    Hi Daniel,

I can give you temporary access to our website. Just let me know where to send your login details – or you register with your full name (so I know it’s you) and I will send you a password afterwards. https://ttc-zh-affoltern.ch/

    @danieliser

    1. Yes, it seems like so, as I disable the restrictions and this makes no difference (I don’t delete them, though, if that matters).
    2. No, I don’t use any of those you mentioned.
    3. Unfortunately I can’t give access to our server due to privacy reasons and can’t make a setup for you as Learndash is a paid plugin, so I’ll probably void the licensing restrictions if I do it. I’m developer myself and I fully understand how frustrating this answer might be for you. I’ll understand if you’re not willing to elaborate further in my case. Even worse – I currently updated a test server that even can’t debug myself. I need my local environment always sane and working, so I do those kind of plugin update tests on an unimportant server, which unfortunately is not debuggable. If you still want to dig into this, though – I can try to provide you with some debug information by adding logging here and there in the code, if you give me some exact points where you need it and eventually what you need logged.

@defender75 – Can you follow this guide and send us a token via the support form here

@joroabv – Not a problem, you can set up a test site based on our demo site: https://app.instawp.io/launch?t=content-control-v2-sample-demo&d=v2

@defender75 – Ok for the record I just tested this with Elementor Pro, created a loop grid with about 6 of 10 posts, each with different categories.

I was able to use the Hide/Filter controls successfully via the alternate query controls (NEW).

If your post grid used the “Main Query”, then you would use the corresponding “Hide/Filter” controls for the Archive page just above.

Let me know, as its starting to seem more like a configuration issue with the restrictions possibly. Are you using any special Elementor addons I’m not accounting for?

Otherwise can you try to replicate the issue with one of our demo sites, your free to install whatever extra you want, when you duplicate the issue I’ll work to resolve it there hopefully.

@defender75, @joroabv – Just pushed another update which fixed quite a few issues, including one with Elementor post queries with ACF.

Let us know if its fixed for you now.

@danieliser It seems like this fixed the Learndash widgets and shortcodes too. For now you can count my case fixed. I’ll come back to you if I notice something unusual down the road.
