Hi, could you please advise me of the correct way to use Site Kit re: users accounts?

I am a web developer and am trying to help a client to install google tags for tracking. The site owner/client has logged in to Site Kit via wordpress and verified the site. However, if I visit the Site Kit page via my account, it requires log in again.

This suggests that Site Kit is linked to the wordpress user account?

I cannot sign in to Site Kit with my user account, as I do not have access to their site on Google.

Google accounts setups are always confusing. Could you please advise as to the proper process in this scenario? They have google accounts for their company, which the site is registered with, but sharing one of those accounts with me is obviously not the correct process. So what is?

    Thanks.

@leecolarelli Thanks for opening a support topic, hopefully I can assist in answering your query.

Each WordPress administrator will need to go through a setup flow when using Site Kit. This is in order to verify account access to the various dashboard and products used. The plugin doesn’t require full setup for each user, once a site is connected and verified (such as by your client) other administrators (such as you) require account and permissions authentication.

You can see from this GitHub issue the setup screens different slightly.

In your case the users you are setting up would need to provide your Google account with access to the products, such as Analytics or Tag Manager.

You can also chime in on the below GitHub issue in relation to sharing data between other WordPress users:

Let me know if you have anymore questions and I’d be happy to help.

    Hi James,

Great, thanks for the info! That’s actually the method we are following… they are adding me to their various google accounts and I can now set them up!

    Thanks.

@leecolarelli No problem at all. Sounds like you’re doing it all correctly then. Best of luck.
