Correct usage of [your-email] ( email address of sender.)

    I have always put <[your-email]> in the “From Field” on the mail tab. AFAIK there is no other way to be able to press reply in my email program and reply to the sender, since there’s no reply to field that I can see. However with the new configuration checks this is creating a warning.

    “This email address does not belong to the same domain as the site.” – which clearly it couldn’t anyway since in my configuration it’s the email address of the sender.

    Can I get clarification as to whether there’s something wrong with adding <[your-email]> to the From Field of the email tab, and if there is can you suggest a method whereby pressing reply on the received email will set up a reply to the sender.

    the help page – https://contactform7.com/configuration-errors/ states

    “The From field specifies the email address of the sender. [email protected]
    …. The email address used in this field should be an address belonging to the same domain as the site.”

    however it would be very unlikley that the sender would happen to have an email address on the website’s domain

    I just updated the plugin to version 4.4 and get the same error.

    I also would like to know how to configure it correctly if I want to set the From field to be: “The Sender’s Name <[email protected]>”

    Totally agree with this:

    The ‘From’ field should be filled with the info of the person who fill the form and submit it. And they are very likely do not have email address with the website’s domain.

    Add Reply-To: [your-email] in Additional Headers.

    Plugin now adds this as default when you create a new CF7 form.

    @buzztone and @takayuki Miyoshi Thanks for that info – it makes sense and I’ll try it out later on – btw @takayuki Miyoshi ‘reply-to’ in advanced headers is prob not the most intuitive place to have it from a UXIX point of view if you want my opinion … I’d make it more prominent since it will be used more often now
