    Dear Inpsyde Team,

    the informations from PayPal side were a little confusing. Once they said we have to “request” the change from PayPal PLUS to PayPal Checkout somehow on the PayPal homepage.

    Latest information was that the switch from the old PayPal PLUS plugin from Inpsyde to this new “WooCommerce PayPal Payments” plugin is all we have to do. Reason seems to be that the “old” plugin connected to the PayPal PLUS service in the background and “WooCommerce PayPal Payments” connects to PayPal Checkout service when using the setup wizard and doing the “onboarding” process. Right?

    Can you confirm, that switching from old plugin to this new plugin is really all we have to do and do not need strange “requesting processes” on the PayPal homepage as well?

    Hi @ralfs2,

    PayPal Plus required a vetting process from PayPal to be approved.
    But there is no vetting needed to use the base functionality in PayPal Payments. So every PayPal account (business & personal) can be connected to the plugin and use it right away.

    Beyond the base PayPal features, PayPal Payments also implements advanced functionality like Advanced Card Payments or Pay upon Invoice.
    These advanced features require your PayPal account to be enabled for them before you could use them.

    The signup for these features could be initiated from the Connection tab in the plugin settings or during the onboarding while connecting your account, if you are interested in using these features but are not yet enabled.
    This is entirely optional, though. I hope this makes it a bit more clear.

    That clarified a lot.
    Seems that support guys at PayPal are not familiar with these deep details.
    Now I know exactly what is going on in the background and what I have to do.

    Hi Ralf,

    PayPal Payments implements a wide range of functionality, and the plugin documentation is usually a good spot to understand the inner workings a bit better.

    Seems that support guys at PayPal are not familiar with these deep details.

    To PayPal’s defense, I must say that the plugin interface is currently being revamped to be more intuitive. So lots of things are changing in an effort to make the setup more user-friendly overall.
    But we are here to assist if any questions come up.
