Cornered into flawed upgrade
-
To Whom It May Concern,
I was warned about a security vulnerability by my Kinsta host with the following message:
https://wpvulndb.com/vulnerabilities/10148They suggested updating to version 1.9.92 in order to address this flaw.
However, when I updated to any version beyond 1.9.86 (including this latest version), I get the following error in the Chrome browser console:
DevTools failed to parse SourceMap: https://devel.world-of-waterfalls.com/wp-content/plugins/data-tables-generator-by-supsystic/src/SupsysticTables/Core/assets/js/lib/jquery.contextMenu.min.js.map
DevTools failed to parse SourceMap: https://devel.world-of-waterfalls.com/wp-content/plugins/data-tables-generator-by-supsystic/src/SupsysticTables/Core/assets/css/lib/jquery.contextMenu.min.css.mapI’m not sure what the nature of this error is, but it has made me hesitant to upgrade from version 1.9.86 which didn’t have this issue.
But now that there’s a security flaw for all versions of 1.9.91 and prior, it seems like I’m not cornered into updating to a flawed version in order to close up the security hole.
The question now, is what the nature of the DevTools errors are, and whether it’s still safe to upgrade to close the security hole.
Thanks
