Core Files Updated NOT by me

    Hello

    I got an email last night from Wordfence that said some of my core files were updated.

    “High Severity Problems:

    * WordPress core file modified: wp-admin/includes/file.php

    * WordPress core file modified: wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php

    * WordPress core file modified: wp-settings.php”

    I’m new to using Wordfence, so I’m not sure if this is someone hacking me or does WordPress make it’s own updates in the background from time to time?

    If it is possibly someone hacking is it safe to open my site without making it worse? What are my first steps?
