Hello. I am looking to insert a link to a newspaper’s website and wish to put an image next to the link. I would like the image to come from the newspaper’s website. Would I be breaking any copyright laws if I inserted an image of their logo, or their given article photograph?

Many thanks if anyone has any advice.

Is there a widget for a news feed where I can display one article at a time in the sidebar, and link to a page archiving all the news site links that I publish?

Don’t do it. It’s not your photograph or logo.

We’re not lawyers but generally speaking referencing something somewhere else and attributing it is fine. May people put the RSS feed widget in their sidebar that has links back to the source.

So linking to them is fine but copying a logo or their photograph is a “No-No”. Unless they have some posted policy or explicitly have a creative commons license for that work, you’ll be doing something wrong.

OK great, that’s cleared that up for me. Thanks a lot for the advice!
