    Hi Stephen,

We have a sign up sheet from 2 years ago with a bunch of tasks. They want to reuse the same tasks, just change the date. It’s a multi-day event if that matters. I went to the old sheet; copied all of the tasks to a new sheet.

When I try to edit the dates (because the dates are still from 2 years ago), and then SAVE, it says I cannot edit the date because at least 1 person is signed up for the task. However, there are 0 sign ups on this sheet OR the original sheet of ANY kind for any task.

    What am I doing wrong?

Error message I’m getting when I try to change the date: https://prntscr.com/mqg5v4

    Thank you,
    Kym

Don’t copy the tasks to a new sheet, because that still keeps the original tasks database IDs, which are associated with previous signups from the old sheet. Maybe you still have a signup lingering in the database that didn’t get cleared properly.

Instead, from the sheets page, copy the whole sheet. That makes a new sheet with all new tasks copied from the old one. Then edit the new tasks on the new sheet to change the dates.

Aha, ok, got it – that worked (after I realized that I couldn’t copy the original one because I had moved those tasks… I copied the one I moved tasks TO, and it worked.)
Are you aware that when you copy a sheet, it creates 4 copies of it? Think I recall seeing that in the support list or maybe I even reported it myself before. Screenshot here:

Lastly, may I make a suggestion? I can post this in your feature request forum too. As you can see, this client has a lot of sheets — all of my orgs that have been using your PTA sheets for years do, because they keep them for re-use/reference. It would be AWESOME if at the top of the list of sheets there was a search bar to locate the sheet we are looking for. Right now we have to page through and look – and alphabetical isn’t even always helpful because “Parent Social Volunteers” might have been “2018 Parent Social” or “Spring Parent Social” — being able to search for “social” and bring up ALL the sheets for the socials would be fabulous. I envision it just like any other taxonomy/custom post page like Posts has a search — like this:

    Thanks again for your help!!

It’s still working fine on my system, only makes one copy, and no other reports from the over 2000 active installs. I’m guessing some other plugin on your site is somehow causing the copy action to get triggered multiple times.

The Signup Sheets are not a custom post type, so you can’t use the normal interface that WordPress provides for posts. This plugin started its life as another plugin that I modified to fit the needs of our PTA at the time, so I’m kind of stuck with the original data structure, which is not ideal. See this post:

Also, discussed in that post is the reasoning behind why I’m reluctant to add any new features to this plugin. But, feel free to put your suggestions in the feature requests section.
