Copying file has been failed and will be skipped

There is likely no read permission on it. You should check the file permissions of it. Make the owner of the files the same as the server owner. Usually www-data.

I get the same error. I can successfully clone der db and it is starting copying files. But after a while i get the same error:
Copying file has been failed and will be skipped: “/homepages/17/d29071585/htdocs/mydomain/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/mypicture.jpg”

I disabled all plugins in the settings.

The persmissions seem to be all right. I can copy files in this directory.

I’ve got a File Copy Failed error but it was for any file with Chinese Unicode characters in the filename. The failed files are just a bunch of PDFs in our uploads folder so no rush.

The server runs CloudLinux 6, Apache FCGI and PHP 5.6 for this site. All the file permissions should be correct; 755 for directories and 644 for files.

The log spit out the Chinese characters as junk and the plugin failed to copy them but succeeded in copying the rest of the site. The files are not critical to our process but it would be nice to have it function correctly when files with Unicode names are present.

I posted this here because, I don’t know if you want to put this in a separate topic.

I’m the sysadmin for this server so, I can provide file names or anything needed to debug the issue.

Are you using Windows server?

CloudLinux 6 is a variant of CentOS 6 https://www.cloudlinux.com/all-products/product-overview/cloudlinuxos

CentOS uses the Linux kernel and our server uses ext4 as the home directory file system.

Hi – I don’t know why I get the ‘Copying file has been failed and will be skipped’

error. Initially it gave me an error saying the logs folder does not have read permission. I fixed that post which the database is getting created successfully. But after that the copying fails.

I tried changing the read/write mode for wp-content folder and the wp-staging folder. It still fails.

Can you pls help me?

I found the permissions issue on my site. While the Apache user, www-data for Debian, owned all of the files in the root documents folder. He did not own the root of the folder “.” Once I gave www-data ownership of the root of the folder he could now create the new sub directory and copy the files into it.

I have just installed wp-staging on a live site.(latest version) I am also getting copy file failed error after successful copy of database. The plugin folder permissions are 755

I read your solution above:

I’m sorry, I don’t know what that means or where to do it.

Please explain or provide a different solution.

I have the same issue with letters from German alphabet like ?, ?, ü or ?.

It’s a complete rewrite and is hopefully fixing your issue.
