copying data from old plugin

Hi,

I am using two fields one of type Custom Post Type MultiSelector the other is Custom Taxonomy MultiSelector.

The old version of the xprofile fields plugin stored values like this:

a:1:{i:0;s:14:”Text Value Here”;}

Because the data is serialised and now in the new version linked by the ID of the custom post / taxonomy (rather than the value) the previously saved values do not match and there are blank spaces in peoples profiles.

Is there a way to avoid this?

Is there a filter I could use to load the correct value if there is no match found?

It works fine if people fill out the values again and re-save their profile however not everyone has done or is aware of this.
