While in the process of creating a page I copied and pasted some text. Suddenly the page font got small and it basically freaked out. I couldn’t do anything so I closed down. Now my website will not come up at all. I also get a server error. Please help. Thank you.

  • What “some text” is?
Copying what from where? (it is always the details…)

I was copying some information about a book summary from https://www.btol.com and pasting it into a page that I had created.

You are saying you copied something from a website and did it happen you pasted it into the wysiwyg (visual, RTE) editor?
    That’s always a big NO-NO.

    I just got this error:

    Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Ok I guess I did the big no-no. Any ways to correct?

500 could be many things… and as it says you may want to take a look at the server error log.

Your site just doesn’t want to load: I am trying to open it in another tab for several minutes.

If you have phpMyadmin access to the database I’d try to delete that post’s content.

Can you explain what phpMyadmin access is. I do have ftp access to the site.

phpMyadmin is a tool, usually offered by your host, to administer your database. It can be very useful, although it might be very dangerous if you are not familiar with it: one can destroy the whole blog with one single wrong click…

In this case I am afraid this is not a solution.

I do have a backup from yesterday. How do I go about getting the site back up from a backup email?

    I appreciate all your help!

Okay. I could access via webftp 10 minutes ago. Now I get the following error:
    Technical information for developers:

The error occured in file /usr/local/ndn/web/webftp/includes/filesystem.inc.php on line 51.

    function ftp_openconnection (/usr/local/ndn/web/webftp/modules/browse/browse.inc.php on line 214)
    function net2ftp_module_printbody (/usr/local/ndn/web/webftp/main.inc.php on line 288)
    function net2ftp (/usr/local/ndn/web/webftp/index.php on line 54)
    argument 0: printBody

It might be something with your host or with that ftp client of yours. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with webftp.

Ok now I’m not getting the ftp error. I can get into see my files. Is there any way from there that I can delete my last post?

No, that’s what I was trying to explain: there is nothing in your files. Every content (posts, pages, comments, settings) are stored in the database.
