• Hi Guys,

    Yep – I’m a newbie ??

I have inherited a WP site, 2.5.X version. I have performed a cold install of WP (2.8.X) using my hosts’ fantastico installer.

The current site is using the default kubrick theme. I would like to migrate the default themes customisation (e.g. images, layout) to the new site. I’m not bothered about the DB as I want to recreate the page layout differently.

I have a downloaded copy of the whole WP 2.5.X site on CD, so I was wondering if it’s ok to upload the relevant directories to my new installation? Namely, any CSS stylesheets.

    Any advice for doing this?

    Many thanks in advance

    MWD

  • Hmm not sure if I understand you correctly. What is your question exactly ?

In anycase, you might wanna upgrade to wordpress 2.9. Lot’s of great new features! And it’s extremely simple to upgrade ;).

    Hi there,

    Let me clarify:

1.Current WP site hosted elsewhere. I have a copy of the whole site on CD.

    2. I have fresh (cold) installed WP2.8.6 via fantastico.

Qn: I would like to restore the theme (mainly to update header and background images from old site) onto this freshly installed WP site.

Both sites are using the default kubrick theme.

Are there specific files/directories that I could upload from old site to new to achieve this? I’m thinking the wp-content/themes/ directories.

    Thanks,

    MWD

You should only need to copy wp-content/themes/default – assuming that the old site is still using the theme in that folder.
