• I have searched, and read all the tutorials, and I am a bit confused. What I want to do is copy my entire wordpress site, and database, and recreate it completely on a new domain. I want the original site to remain intact, and functioning, I just need a second copy of the entire site on a different server so I can revamp the site.

Anyone know how to do this?

    I am lost.

  • copy all the files, put them on your new server
export from existing WP all content, import to new site (using export/import from tools menu)

You would need to tweak sme things I believe, like turning on your theme and plugins, and adjusting widgets

Doing a full DB dump through phpmyadmin from old to new database may negate that, but then youd have to search and replace all URL references from your old site to your new in the DB. Ive never messed with that, so not an expert

doing it with export/import is not copying all my settings, etc

this would be a lot easier if the “Theme Test Drive” plugin let you actually edit the new theme with page templates, etc.
