Cookies and consent banner won’t go when viewed on devices

The Jetpack cookies and consent widget banner seems a great idea – but readers using portable devices are complaining that it doesn’t go when clicked.

Having a look at your site, I can see the issue you’re explaining. Each tap on the button reloads the page. It isn’t only mobile, I experienced this on the desktop version of Chrome as well.

Looking at the Jetpack Debug tool, there is an unknown error. Can you take a look at that troubleshooting page and see if any of the suggestions resolve this, please?

It’s possible that there might be a conflict.

I know it’s less than ideal, but would you please try to disable all of your plugins except Jetpack. Then try testing again to see if the issue persists. If it goes away, you can find out which plugin was causing it by enabling each plugin one by one while repeating the test after each one.

If it’s still not working after disabling the plugins, it may be the theme. Would you please switch to one of the newer default themes to see if that fixes it?

I tried but failed Doug – I deleted the inactive plugins, deactivated the remainder, re-activated Jetpack, and reconnected it to my premium account.

And now I get the following message and don’t know what to do!

Any advice please? BTW, I also get the sticky GDPR notice widget problem with another WordPresssite, Singdanceandplay.net .

I’ve looked at my host’s Control Panel but I’m really not clear whether I should re-install Wp, or even how. It’s been years since I’ve needed to do so!

Apologies for the extreme delay here, it appears this issue fell through the crack.

I now see a positive connection to Jetpack:

However, I don’t see the widget in place anymore. I do see privacy information elsewhere though, so is everything working as you’d like now?
