Converting from a post type category to a regular category

    Hi, Stephanie

    I have a theme that has custom post type video & custom categories associated with the videos.

    What would be the settings I need if I want to convert, e.g. Video (custom categ. 1) to Regular post (Categ. 1.1)

    I associated each video category a new regular category because, I assume, taxonomies will be lost during conversion.

    The existing categories will not change when you convert the post type. (In the database, the only things that’s being updated is the post_type column.) However, you’ll need to make sure the category taxonomy is registered to your new post type; otherwise you won’t be able to manage the categories for those posts after the conversion.

    If you need to change a term to a different taxonomy, try the Term Management Tools plugin.
