• An acquaintance gave me the ultimate gift six months ago and converted my HTML website (which I had been administering) to WordPress. With no previous WordPress experience, I was able to take over administration of the new site pretty easily.

But now I’d like to pay that gift forward to another friend by converting the site I’ve been administering for him from HTML to WordPress. But my lack of WordPress experience has me concerned about installing WordPress on his server and actually getting his site online. This is to say we don’t want a blog (at least not right away); we just want to convert his HTML site to WordPress as quickly as possible. (I realize the actual site content will have to be done from scratch to work with a theme; there is no ‘conversion.’)

Can someone please tell me which parts of the WordPress instructions I might skip so I can avoid sections that deal strictly with blog issues and get right to getting a website online? Or, please offer some other suggestion(s) if possible.

    Thanks so much.

Uh … none. The instructions for setup are about as short as you want to make them. I’d just make a site with WordPress and make a static front page. It’s not that hard ?? I did that for my Dad for his birthday and he’s delighted. As far as he knows, WordPress is just a fancy HTML editor ??
