• Hi,

    Your plugins seems nice.
    I installed it.
Put the lines into the .htaccess
It converted all my JPEGs and PNGs to webp.
All of them have the chrome logo in the media library
I purged the cache from the site.
And tested my site into Chrome, Opera…
    And no webp…

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Regards,

    Laurent

    Hi Laurent,
Thanks for downloading the plugin. I have tried to break it down into the following conclusions.
If you are seeing the Chrome logo then the plugin has found a webp image in the media folder. The plugin has no database or attribute reliance, this information is checked every time so the images have been generated. If there were any problems (Which I have never experienced) the corrupt / blank image should still be shown in your browser when visiting your site.
This leads me to believe it may be something to do with your server setup. Can you please check the mods-available/mime.conf file to ensure that the following information is present.

    AddType image/webp .webp

The only other thing I can suggest for now, is do you have any firewall rules set for outgoing file types or a varnish (caching server) in front of your web server? To confirm the images have be converted you can download one and open it directly in Chrome. Please let me know how you get on and I will try and help further.

    Regards
    Steve Turner.

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks for your help.

First, note that I’m not a server expert (far from that in fact ?? ).
    So what I did:
    – I checked in the cpanel the MIME types and there is “Image/webp .webp” by default in the host provider configuration
    – For the firewall, I think there is one managed by the hosting company… but I don’t have the hand on it (and if it’s in the default MIME types it won’t make sense to block webp for them… but maybe I’m wrong)
    – There is a varnish… I deactivated it to see if it was the problem and no change.

    Any other idea? ??

    Hi,
    I have the same issue @ dev.mmwb.nl
Working in WP 5.1 / PHP 7.2 on Apache on shared hosting, mime-type enabled. I can see .webp images if accessed directly in Chrome e.g. https://…cropped-felt-4007361_1280-1-10842501.jpg.webp

Images are in Media Library. The ones converted carry the chrome logo.
Webp versions of images are available on webserver.

    Hope you can help

@golfloire – i think it’s working now on your page.
I saw a lot of jpeg images which are from type webp.

@mmwbadmin – i think it’s better to open an own threat and give some more information on your issue. As you can read in some other threats, most problem with same issues have hat a similar solution ??
