• Hello to all

From some versions (I can assume from 1.9) trying to edit a page created with WordPress without page builder instead of importing the contents ….. everything disappears!

I find myself as if I had to insert everything: text, images, etc.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Please try update to the latest version 1.9.2 and let me know if it solved the problem..

    I use 1.9.2…. ??

    Hello Gianluca,

I have converted 50+ sites from other pagebuilders or wordpress to Elementor.
Best thing is to crab your text form the old editor and paste it in a simple notepad document without any styling. Then clean the old editor completely ) before opening Elementor! Then save. After that open Elementor and start creating columns or whatever you want to do with Elementor to create your pages.

After all, if you wanted to keep the old styling of the old wordpress editor, you would not want to start creating with Elementor right?

Paste and divide your old text and insert images using the elementor elements and you will create beautifull pages ??

At first I also tried to keep the old text and images, hoping it would magically be imported into Elementor, but ofcourse that would not be logical.

If I did not completely remove old text and images and the old styling and saved afterwards, the old content started messing up my new created pages with Elementor.

My advise, clean the page completely and start inserting and creating from scratch with Elementor. It is a lot of work, but after that, it is time saving and cool to work with!

    Good luck,
    Annie

    Hi Annie

Good idea but my report is to prevent a novice user from mistakenly deleting the contents of a page.

First, if you clicked on “edit with elementor” automatically you had the old content in a text area

    Hi Gianluca,

I might misunderstand your message, but a novice could always delete content by mistake, wether it is with the old editor or Elementor?

According to your topic title, you are now converting pages that previously where created with the standard WordPress editor, to Elementor right?

So, after that work is done, the novice wil click on Elemetor and all the content you converted to it, will appear. Further more, Elementor now saves every edit, so one can easely roll back to a previous one, and having recent backups to revert to if a novice deletes content by mistake is a must have solution anyway.

Exactly but it does not seem to work because if I open an existing page / article with Elementor, the contents no longer exist and if I accidentally click on “save” or “update” I would lose the content (I should go back to the standard WordPress editor and retrieve a revision)

Ok, and that is why I advise you, to first open the page with old editor ( not elementor ) clean the page from old content, save and only after that open elementor in that page and start inserting and creating the pages with Elementor.

    @arielk-1

I did a test to see if the problem was the version.

Actually in a local installation with elementor 1.7.11 everything works perfectly and correctly

Updating the current 1.9.2 shows the problem I described at the beginning: it can not “import” existing contents

    Hi @webepc,

I’m so sorry, It took some time because I confused it with another issue that we handled already, but I can confirm that is a bug ??

We will fix this soon as possible. Thank you very much for the report!

No worries and do not worry: it’s better to find a bug! ??

I must admit this was bugging the hell out of me. I thought I was doing something wrong. Great to hear it will be fixed soon.

Great work on Elementor so far guys!
