Conversion from desk-top to mobile looks like crap?

    My website looks pretty good ( not great)on my laptop, it looks awesome on a full size desktop monitor but when you open it on a mobile device, it is horrible.
    On both the lap top and mobile screen (especially on mobile), my photo’s are oversized (huge). The banner is massive and takes up 90% of the screen and covers my product widget.the pictures are so big they are blurry and only show 2 or 3 at a time (in a 5-6 photo row).
    I have searched and searched front-end, back-end and every other end I can think of but I can not figure how to remedy this.
