    Hello,

I just wanted to double check something. It appears that WP Maintenance Mode does not provide any control by IP address. Is that correct? The reason I ask is that I would like to be able to go into maintenance mode and test things from the standpoint of a regular user with no special roles or privileges. I can’t figure out a way to do this (and still keep other users out) without resorting to control by IP.

Am I missing a configuration option about ip address? or any other thoughts?

    Thanks!!

    Mike

  • Hello @mike80222,
You can access your website from an incognito window or a different browser (where you are not logged in).
This way you will see the same thing that a regular user will see.

Let me know if this helps.

    Hi @creativethemeshq,

No, it’s the other way around. I want to be able to log on as a regular user and *not* see the maintenance banner. So that I can test changes to the site, from a user perspective, while I’m in maintenance. I believe I need to be able to control by IP address to do this. This is a membership site, running Memberpress, bbPress, BuddyPress, and so on. Probably not the typical use case.

Don’t worry about it. I mainly just wanted to make sure that there wasn’t an IP option that I had missed in the configuration.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hello @mike80222,

If you authenticate as an administrator (by using the wp-login.php URL), you can see the website while the maintenance mode is active.

Or do you want to see the website as a non-authenticated user (a simple visitor)? If that’s the case, you can add your IP address to the Exclude setting.
