• Up until about a few days ago (when another editor noticed the problem), Contributor users got notifications when their articles were published. Now, they do not, and when I went into a couple of posts to try and check them off to get access again, a red “No Access” appeared beside each of their names. Would anyone know how to fix this problem, or does anyone know whether it’s a ‘bug’ that’s come with this version of WP (5.1.1) and may be fixed in the future?

I’m with themindfulword.org, although the problem is exclusively in the backend, and the appearance of our site is fine.

    Thanks,

    Erica

Are you using a plugin for contributors to contribute articles?

Thanks for your response! We have the “User Role Editor” plugin. Maybe deactivating it and seeing if the problem is fixed would work, actually… worth a try.

    Nah, made no difference.

To give more detail, we don’t use a plugin to allow contributors to contribute. They have their own accounts but don’t actually use them. Us two editors post all their articles for them.
