    Hi,
I’m using Assignment Desk and Edit Flow.
I created a user Editor with status “Editor” and a user Contributor with status “Contributor”. Editor creates a post and sends an assignment request to Contributor which he approves. Now Contributor would like to work on his post assignment that got created by Editor. But he can’t since he is not the original author. Editor can’t change the author. How can Contributor work on his post assignment when he only has the rights to view it but not to edit it?

    Please help.
    Thanks.

  • By default the contributed role doesn’t allow a user to edit posts that aren’t created by them. Try searching for advanced user roles on the plugin directory.

Andrew is correct. With how WordPress works by default, contributors can’t edit posts other than their own. You’ll either need to assign the post to the contributor, or modify WordPress’ roles and capabilities, which you can do with a plugin like Members.

    Thanks Andrew and Daniel,
It is not clear to me about the workflow of Assignmentdesk when a Editor assigns a job to a reporter(with status contributor). How does the reporter actually work with the post that was assigned to him by the Editor (with status Editor)? Is there something I’m missing?

    Thank you.

    Hey Uli,
In order for the contributor to access the post created by the editor, the editor will need to make the contributor the author of the post. Here’s another thread on that topic.

    Cheers,

    Daniel
