I like to format the structure this way because (at least here in the U.S.) it’s most common to list dates as “March 1, 2007.” Just reads better to my eye, and I assume to most in the U.S. I know it’s a bit different in Europe and elsewhere.
Yes, the Permalinks are functioning properly. It’s just the Archives links that are fouled up; they return a 404 error. And as I mentioned, I’m using the Binary Blue theme, so not being the default theme or WP Classic, it’s custom.
This has been posted about rather sparsely, as far as I can tell. There was one post in particular, but it was old and no real resolution of the issue was forthcoming. So I didn’t bother posting in that thread.
From a functional standpoint, the problems seems to arise when you first customize the permalink structure, then switch the theme away from default or Classic. (Don’t know if this is a theme-specific problem… I think this is occurring with other themes as well.) I’ve tried setting the permalink structure back to the default, resetting the theme to default, switching the theme back to Binary Blue, then re-customizing the structure. No difference… still have broken Archives links.
And since I’m not a programmer, I’m not sure how to debug this. Hoping someone else might do it. I’m very comfortable with using and configuring PHP scripts in general, and WP in particular, but programmatic debugging is not a skill that’s in in my “kit.”
Anyone else have some insight into this issue? I know others have experienced this same problem.
Gotta say that I love WordPress. A great blogging platform, and easy to work with. And Binary Blue… well, it’s awesome. Say no more…
TIA,
Steve
