    Hi,
unfortunately the “Continue Reading” link does not automatically show up in my posts most of the time. No matter which post format I choose.
Strange enough it does appear sometimes though.
Am I missing something here? Does the link only appear on certain post formats or is there some kind of restriction to that link?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi again,

after a little testing around I found out that it depends on the length of the text that is coming before the “read more” link.
As soon as that text hits a special amount of charachters (~200 I guess) the Continue Reading link appears.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hi there,

I am also using Baskerville theme but the “Continue Reading” link does not show up for me even though my characters far exceeds 200. Do you have any solutions to it?

Hi! Same concern here. I prefer the “continue reading” option instead of the full text display. I hope you can get around replying to us. Thanks.

Hi! I am having the same problem. No ‘continue reading’ option. I love this theme, just wish I could get it to work!

    Hi all,

Think I just figured this out. Also posted to other discussion going on

It seems that when writing your post you have to add the more tag to indicated where you want the continue reading link to show up. Here’s a link to how to do this.

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/more-tag/view-all/

Once I added this to my posts it worked.

That’s odd. I found that using the <!–more–> tag had exactly the reverse effect, So I had to go through a bunch of recent posts removing the more tag. When I did, continue reading re-appeared. (Baskerville 1.15)

Checking Further if the <!–more–> tag is inserted near the start of the post the ‘Continue reading’ link does not appear. If the <!–more–> tag is put in further from the start the prompt appears – but not where the more tag is inserted.

Seem to be a bit of a problem. Leaving the <!–more–> tag out seems to give the best results – for me anyway.

An additional point. The Continue Reading prompt does not appear if the post text is short – which is a huge pain if you have a photography blog with pictures ‘below the fold’. You will want people to click through to view the pictures, but they don’t know they are there because there is no “continue Reading’ prompt.

This issue is definitely *not resolved* at 1.15.

Despite this issue, this is still one of the best free Themes for photography, and the code is a lot easier to follow than many I’ve worked with.
