• Help, I apologize in advance for my lack of understanding here. While trying to update my website I realized my wp-content/uploads/ were open for anyone to see and I also noticed that pictures that were not mine had been uploaded to view here. Can anyone tell me.
    1. How do I remove these pictures?
    2. How do I make my content uploads secure so they can’t be viewed by everyone???

I know the bare minimum on this stuff so as simple as you can make it is greatly appreciated:)

I got the pictures down, had to go into file permissions to get them off through filezilla.

Right now you don’t need a password to see my content uploads so that means everything I upload to my site can be viewed and downloaded by scrapers (i think that’s what they are called). I want to figure out how I can change this so that my wp-content/uploads are available to me and not the public. Someone suggested https://technicallyeasy.net/2009/03/preventing-directory-browsing-with-htaccess/
but I can’t figure out how to find my .htaccess?

Should I change my file permissions for my content uploads? Right now they are 755.

.htaccess file is located in your root directory

else change the file permission to 700
