Try increasing the right margin on #content. It’s currently only set to 280px – which is less than your sidebar’s width.

WordPress handles all of that automatically.

well I created I new folder with the css why wouldnt it be working?

Did you follow the instructions on Child_Themes? Especially the example child stylesheet?
