Content from different themes is all mixed up

  • Hi!

    I am very new to all this! I tried out a couple different themes for my site, and my issue is that content from the previous themes seems to be effecting my current theme (old menus and widgets, I think).

    I would like to have a fresh start, perhaps reinstall?-but I worry that if I delete all of the content, it will make it so the pages that come with my current theme will also disappear.

    I appreciate any help ??

    Hi Esmi, thank you for your reply.

    First I tried two free ecommerce themes from the wordpress site (went between travelfy and virtue). The two seemed to leave “residual” content as I went between.

    I now am using Mystile, from woocommerce. I read on a previous thread that this forum is only for wordpress themes, and Mystile is outside of that category. However, I had this “residual” issue when switching between the two wordpress themes, as well.

    Themes cannot leave “residual” content behind them. That is simply not the way in which themes work,. They are either active or they are not. In the latter state, they do not affect anything on your site.

    hmmm…how can I reinstall wordpress to get a fresh start?

    Why do you need to re-install WordPress? Are you perhaps running a caching plugin?
