• I am using the plugin to see how it compares to sites like ‘medium.com’ and the new facebook post/notes. Pleased to say that I like it.

THIS IS THE WAY FORWARD, THERE ARE NOW 100’S OF BLOCK STRUCTURES AND THEMES TO USE WITH GUTENBERG. IT’S FAST, COMPATIBLE, AND SUPPORTED – WHAT’S NOT TO LIKE!!

Those out there that are clinging on to the ‘old’ editor are (IMHO) missing the point with content. “Content” should be easy to create and modify! So called page builders, have over time, taken the focus away from ‘solving people’s problems‘ and pushed all the emphasis onto ‘look & feel‘.

Sorry guys, look & feel is NOT content!! Websites these days all look the same. Page builders have, to a large degree, been the instigator of this ‘dumbing down’ of websites. The “Content” part of a website is now largely in the realm of the big boys with the big hits.

What’s the point of a website that just looks good? End users are searching for solutions to problems – they are not searching for ‘pretty’ websites. Content is king and always will be… Google does NOT rank a website for pretty’ness – it ranks for ‘does this site answer the persons problem?‘.

The argument that this will put out of business those that are making a living from creating themes, page builders, plugins, etc. NOT at all. This is just the manufacturer (Automattic in this instance) ensuring that the product stays relevant to the current emphasis on creating great content without the distractions of layout, design, etc. – this, after all, is what publishing is mostly about.

Those out there that a worried about this, should be embracing the move and looking at ways to move with the new methods of creating content, fast. Medium.com has shot to fame by creating a system that ANYONE can create content and solutions without having to be a graphic designer or web developer. Just look at the results on their platform and others like quora, etc.

Most websites are too focused so much on gadgets, widgets, sliders, popups, etc etc. – they have all lost the purpose of their businessprovide decent content (solutions) to end users problems (search queries on Google / Bing / etc.).

If web creators spent more of their time focusing on the content rather than the look and feel we would have far more solutions and decent content that is worth reading.

Personally, as soon as I find a website that has nothing but popups, thin content, regurgitated text from other sites, etc, etc. I switch off and find another site – an authority site – that provides a solution without me having to sign up to a million popup forms and wade through countless advertising hits.

Bravo Automattic for embracing the medium and re-focusing content creators on ‘creating’ content.

First of all thank you for taking time to test Gutenberg and for your feedback.

This is a powerful comment and one I agree on. It’s important to offer balance and having a stable, foundation on which to build on is key.
