  • Me too.

    Downgrade to version 3.3.2.

This part of the changelog in 3.3.3 killed it: Added: counter-measure against plugins that add buggy scripts

    Thanks for reporting this.

The counter-measure added in 3.3.3 seems to be too strict, however, it was put in as a temporary solution because many plugins add scripts that breaks the sidebar admin screen. Ironically that is what causes your problem, and I apologize for that.

I am currently rewriting the screens from scratch to better cope with these situations, so for now I do suggest downgrading to version 3.3.2. There are no security concerns to that.

Note that you should not uninstall the plugin when downgrading, just overwrite the plugin via FTP or similar. Uninstalling will remove all sidebar data.

Thanks you SS88_UK and Joachim. I did it and now it’s working fine!

This incompatibility should be fixed in version 3.4. Let me know if you are still experiencing issues.

    Joachim,

I was thankful to find this as I was going a bit nuts with 3.3.3, not being able to save conditions, plus getting the ACF error. So now I can, but I have new problems. When I click on the wp-admin/widgets.php page for editing widgets and I click “gear” icon to edit the side bar, I get this error message.

“Sorry, you are not allowed to edit posts in this post type.”

Also, I’ve noticed that changes I’ve made to widgets, for example, changing the title of the Enhanced Text Widget, and the clicking Save on that widget, are not actually saved when the page with the sidebar in questions is rendered. It still shows the old title.

    Can you reproduce this?

    Thx.

    @mhair

What verison of WordPress are you using? And are you using any plugin to alter the admin menus? There is a minor bug in version 3.4 regarding the “gear” icon, but it shouldn’t lead you to the mentioned page.

Are you able to create new sidebars and see the existing ones?

    I’m on 4.6.1. But….

Strangely, this morning I can’t reproduce it. The gear icon I was referring to is on the edit widgets page, and it takes you to the sidebar page. It works fine this morning, as does creating a new sidebar. So sorry about that, I’m not sure what to think of this but will let you know if I see it again.

It might have been caused by an invalid cache on your site or in your browser, but great to hear that it works now.
