• There are a few sidebar features of my old blogging system, Tyepapd, which I really liked & I’m hoping I can get something similar in WP:

About Me link to bio page
    Personal Photo display
    Contact Me link

I know I can do some of this directly in the sidebar template, but I feel safer using plugins if they’re available since I don’t like monkeying around with code unless I have to.

  • I am using the WP-ContactForm plugin by Ryan (https://ryanduff.net/projects/wp-contactform/) which works really well.

What you’ll most likely do is create a new page in WordPress with the contact form, and perhaps even add your picture and put in some information about yourself, and then have a link from the sidebar saying “About/Contact me”.

Let me know how it goes. I’ve got the form on my site – see the link on the sidebar @ https://www.0gravity.co.uk/

Thanks, your msg above prodded my brain & I got the About Me & contact form features to work:
    https://www.richardsilverstein.com/tikun_olam/about-me/

I did have to deactivate my wysiwyg editor plugiin. It seems to conflict with a number of admin related functions esp. the post box & admin panel.

I even got a photo of me in the About Me pg. too. But I can only get the image to align properly to the text using float code & div tags. I don’t know why v & hspace code doesn’t work. But that’s another thread.

    That’s because vspace/hspace are depreciated.

Your link takes me to a pg. which merely says that vspace is depreciated but doesn’t explain what that means. I know there’s an entire tutorial there fr. which I can prob. glean this but I don’t have time to read an entire tutorial. If there’s something more specific explaining this I’d like to read it.

Vspace and hspace are replaced by the use of CSS in the stylesheet now. “Deprecated” means “unsupported” (though browsers will still display such elements using “quirks” mode) and most likely will eventually be phased out.

Thanks for that explanation. NOw I understand. I got my text wrapping css working so I don’t think I’ll need vspace anymore.

But if anyone can explain to me why the caption width is set to 45px I’d be grateful. I’d like to set the css to detect how wide the image is & adjust the caption width accordingly rather than leave it at a miniscule 45 px.
