Where can we see the website in question?

Same problem here after updating to CF7 5.4.
I’m guessing it’s rather random scrambled characters than chinese.

My tests showed that the email content gets scrambled if there is german “umlauts” (special characters ike ?, ?, ü, etc.) used within the email content or within the fields.

    Website in question: https://www.rbs-wave.de/kontakt/

I experienced this issue with both, plain and html emails.

    Please advise.

    Cheers,
    Dorian

More inside: it’s not only mails via CF7, also “WordPress has udpated…” mails get scrambled, too.

seems like PHP mailer sends in my case Unicode mails, changing the mail to “Unicode (UTF-8)” unscrambles the text. Does CF7 influence the encoding in any way or how does it get determined?
